Writer's Block: Party Time
The last great party I attended was my wedding reception 15 yrs ago.
I'm thinking things were going fine only to find out a few years later that the people there laughing were laughing at me - more so out of pity. Not because I (finally got) married but because someone close by ridiculed me behind my back (when I went to change out of the wedding gown into a dress).
When I confronted the joker-in-question, they told me they thought it was funny that I thought I was able to get away from my former life, because most people get married and move away from home not marry and stay right where I'm at. Only change I was bringing in an innocent person into my web of insanity and before too long that person will get up and go away forever.
